Currently a cycling tour guide at Kyoto Cycling Tour Project and an official tour guide of Kyoto's Nijojo Castle. Hi! I am Tomoko :)
Born in Kyoto City, and grew up in the UK, Malaysia, and went to school in the US. I am VERY fluent in both English and Japanese. I am happy to show you around this wonderful picturesque city by explaining not only the cultural background but by adding anecdotes from personal stories and family experiences.
My favorite places in Kyoto include Nijo-jo castle, the Imperial Palace Park, the Golden Temple (Kinkaku-ji), the Silver Pavilion (Ginkaku-ji), Fushimi Inari, and Ryoan-ji Temple. I love interacting with people of all ages including babies, children, mothers, fathers, uncles, aunties, seniors, and my fellow older millenials.
Now that you know a little bit about me, please tell me about yourself! Let’s connect!

Imperial Palace Park's Cherry Blossoms
This couple from Germany was very excited to see cherry blossom trees in the Imperial Palace Park’s former Konoe residence.

Ryoan-ji Temple’s Rock Garden
The Zen garden in Ryoanji is one of the best places to meditate and take in our surroundings. This place is especially beautiful in the winter, when there are less visitors. Here, I explained the story behind the garden to a group of teenagers from the US.
